According to the link above, I`d like to summon / ask journalists which happen to have an interview with The Man (who this topic is named after:) to get an answer for something which I am interested in for years now.

As I am a moviemaker myself, I`d like to know from which day on Jim Jarmusch (as a moviemaker) could make a living out of his movies. I´d not be interested in names and numbers rather than a general statement to this, as his movies had been very unknown to a broad public for quite a long time I´d say. I remember ordering his (first) movies (stranger, down & mystery) on VHS-tapes as "Import" not so long ago at a time DVD already found consumers.
